Hi, I'm Kiell!
I'm a Minneapolis-based User Experience Designer with a passion for people. I came to UX seeking to grow my tech and design skills after years of client-focused work (professionally) and creative work (as a hobby). I am drawn to UX because it exists at the complex crossroads of empathy, technology, communication, aesthetics, and problem solving.
UX is a constantly evolving field in which practitioners might never attain mastery, which is awesome! I consider myself a lifelong learner and am so grateful to be part of a field that will constantly demand my growth and professional evolution. Whether I'm learning UX research methods, a new language, a square dance, an art process, or how to drive heavy equipment or evacuate an airplane, I'm always excited to try something new.
My background isn't traditional--and that makes me a better, more unique practitioner. I have a varied global experience serving a large range of customers--from providing direct service in nonprofits to meeting the complex and technical needs of government subcontractors in Antarctica (that's me in the photo, jumping for joy in an ice cave of the Erebus Glacier Tongue).
In addition to my UX work, I have a background in the following industries:
- Waste Processing
I'm also really good at shoveling snow.
Writing, coffee, tacos, and swimming are a few of my favorite things. I love to travel--I've been lucky enough to make it to all 7 continents for work or play. You can check out my travels & other fun stuff over at my personal site, brownpaperblueink.com. When I'm on the road, my camera, notebook, and toothbrush are my most valued luggage, and my favorite things to do are find local food and go to see art. (And in case you're wondering, my name is pronounced "Kyle.")
I am currently seeking new opportunities. Let's chat! Contact me at kwkosberg at gmail dot com or 612.405.4240.
